This week we thought we would give you a sneak peak into the process of how we draw Wumpyre.
We will have some new comic strips starting again next week.
Wumpyre is drawn by hand using digital tools but the process mirrors the way a comic would be drawn on paper. We develop the story in advance and then decide on whether it will take 1, 2, 3 or 4 panels to tell the episode.
The drawings are developed first as sketches with a digital “pencil” tool in Corel Painter using a Wacom Cintiq tablet and then the images are redrawn in a final “inked” form.
When this process is complete I export the black and white artwork to Katie as a Photoshop file and she completes the colour art.
I letter the dialogue in CorelDraw and create the word balloons and any sound effects which I export as an EPS file that is added to Katie’s Photoshop final file and then uploaded to the website.
